The machine shop CNC Setter/Operator (skilled) is responsible for the manufacture of the organisations component parts in accordance with the businesses QMS. Key duties including the Programming, editing, setting and operating of the companys machine tools ensuring all Quality and productivity efficiencies are met and ensuring that all H&S and plant security is adhered to.
Roles / Responsibilities:
Ensure their safety and daily productivity on designated shift.
Ensure security of the facilities during designated shift hours.
Comply with all safety and processing procedures.
Enable effective communications between management and operators.
Train new employees and coach existing employees.
Maintain a clean and safe work place in accordance with the H&S policy.
Report all accidents (spills, accidents, poor performance)
Manufacture product in compliance to the companies QMS.
Set up, adjust, programme and operate all of the machine tools and many specialised or advanced variation tools in order to perform precision machining operations.
Measure, examine, and test completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications.
Suggest and Implement cost saving and process improvement ideas.
Maintain machinery, applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, material properties, machining procedures, and manufacturing techniques.
Preform related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates.
Must have a professional attitude and flexible approach to working. Be efficient with great attention to detail.
Ideally from a precision manufacturing background with experience of sliding head lathes (Citizen/Star).
The ability to read engineering drawings along with the understanding of CNC machine programming code.
Strong experience of measurement inspection activities (operation of CMM would be highly desirable).
